UX GESTURES
The whiplash to remote learning in 2020 created large gaps in education—a main issue being communication via novel classroom technology. I developed virtual classroom learning gestures for adult learners (college students) in visual communication and new media courses I was teaching. The gestures use ASL, meme/pop culture, and dance references that can be used instead of individual verbal responses. This allows simultaneous communication and fosters inclusive dialogue in virtual learning environments. The gestures were widely adopted in my virtual classrooms and training, as they do not limit communication to one person speaking at a time and the wait for unmuting, volume up, etc. (load time may be slow)
