I began sewing in March of 2025 to make the outfits for our wedding. Using primarily upcycled and discarded textiles, this is what has become:

Reclaimed* Denim Haori-inspired jacket
A haori is a traditional Japanese jacket historically worn over a kimono. It resembles a shortened kimono, originally worn by men in the Edo period. Women, and more specifically geisha, appropriated the garment as a kimono cover. It has inspired Japanese fashion for generations.
*The denim was set to be trashed because of a dye defect, where the fabric bled a lot. I fixed the fabric with a stop dye solution and a second indigo dyeing process.
